We believe it is important to prepare our children for employment and inspire them to consider options for their future career. Likewise, we wish to develop an understanding of money and managing finances.
One of the ways in which we try to inspire children to think about the future is through Wistonia University and College. For three Friday afternoons in the summer term the school turns into a college and university and the children take part in vocational/off-timetable activities. The children mix up with pupils in other classes to give them the opportunity to build teams.
Children in the infants attend Wistonia College and try a different activity each week. All activities are organised by school staff and volunteers.
In 2017, the children had the chance to try three activities out of:
Making Photo Frames
iPads in Motion
Making Cake Pops
Team Building and Athletics
Children in the Juniors attend Wistonia University. They choose their preferred courses from a list and are allocated a course to attend. The course lasts for the three Friday afternoons. Most courses are run by school staff and volunteers at school. We are very lucky to be supported by local learning establishments Shavington Academy, Malbank School & Sixth Form and Reaseheath College who run some of our courses. Local businesses also run some of our courses too!
The courses available in 2017 were:
PE (run by Shavington Academy)
