Transition into School

Transition from Nursery to Reception begins in the Summer term of the year before your child starts school.

Your child's teacher will visit them in their current Nursery setting to meet them and find out a little bit about them from their key worker.

This is then followed by 'Learning Together' sessions where you can come with your child into school and play in the Foundation Areas and meet the teachers and teaching assistants.

The children will then come into school without parents for a couple of mornings/afternoons. In these sessions the children will sing songs, read stories and play games as well as taking part in simple phonics and number activities.

There is then an information evening for new parents, which explains more about our EYFS curriculum and setting, this is also where you will find out who your child's class teacher will be.

We know that this can be a nervous time for both parents and children but we aim to make it as smooth and exciting as possible!
