Juniors 13.10.17

This week, we went quiz crazy! On Tuesday the children participated in a team quiz. The children listened to  clues that described a child who attends Swan Stars. They worked together to guess which Swan Stars member we were talking about. It was a great opportunity for everyone to get to know each other.

We also had a Harry Potter book quiz and a Guinness World book of records quiz. The children used the  books to search for the answers. We have some Year 5 children who are busy writing their own quizzes for next week.

What an actioned packed week! The children have really settled well in to the routine. We introduced a reward scheme this week. The children are rewarded with a 'Super Swan' ticket when they follow the swan stars rules. Three times a week a name is pulled out of the box and the lucky winner can choose a prize from the prize box.  Well done to all the children who have been given a ticket.

The Year 5 and Year 6 Junior playworkers popped over this week to help us with our activities, we had great fun decorating spider biscuits, painting spiders, flower collages, making snails and learning how to sew.

We set the children a stem challenge to construct a tower using cocktail sticks and apples. We had great feedback from the children and plan to offer more science and engineering activities each week.

We welcomed Mya, an exchange student from Germany this week. The children enjoyed getting to know Mya It was so lovely to see how friendly our children were towards Mya, initiating conversations, learning a few German words and inviting her to play with them.

The Year 4 children treated everyone to a band practise, as you can imagine it was very loud!!! At breakfast club, it was it was the turn of the Year 6 boys to organise a game for everyone. They chose dodgeball, a new Swan Stars favourite!

We introduced the reward scheme to both Infants and Juniors. The children will be rewarded with a lottery ticket when they follow the Swan Stars rules.
