Science at WCLA is taught throughout the school. In EYFS, children learn about scientific enquiry through exploration and activities planned aim to foster curiosity. Each class in all other year groups has two hours of science taught each week.
Teachers plan science lessons using objectives from the programmes of study set out in the National Curriculum. At WCLA, practical experiments are encouraged and should take place at least once during each unit taught. This practical ‘hands on’ science learning is carefully planned for and maximised, giving a real life context where possible.
Opportunities to question the world around us and why things happen are celebrated and through these, common misconceptions are challenged.
