Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to wear a face covering when on the school site?
Yes. We are asking all adults who enter the site to wear a face covering.
Why are the children organised into ‘bubbles’?
Organising small groups or ‘bubbles’ of children and staff are a central part of the government’s reopening guidance. Bubbles work as a protective measure to help reduce potential transmission of COVID-19 by keeping the same children and the same staff together. The bubbles also help the local Public Health Team to make decisions about who may need to self-isolate in the event of a confirmed case.
The government guidance also ‘allows mixing into wider groups for wraparound care’. This has enabled us to be able to offer Swan Stars Before and After School Club by creating ‘secondary bubbles’.
How are Swan Stars managing 'bubbles'?
Swan Stars is a service that is incredibly useful to parents and because of this we are happy to be able to offer it to the parents who need it. Due to staffing numbers, when children attend Swan Stars, they are split into 2 ‘secondary bubbles’ in the Infants (Reception and Year 1/2) and 2 ‘secondary bubbles’ in the Juniors (Year 3/4 and Year 5/6). Children are continuously reminded of the importance of social distancing and there are strict hygiene measures adhered to.
My child has attended Swan Stars with a child with a suspected case of Covid-19. What will happen?
Your child can still attend school and does not need to self-isolate unless they too develop symptoms or a positive test result is received by school.
What if there is a confirmed case in Swan Stars?
In the event of a confirmed case, the school would contact the local Department for Education who will advise us on the measures to put into place. If your child is identified as a close contact, they would be sent home to begin 14 days of self-isolation.
My child has coronavirus symptoms. What should I do?
Your child should not attend school. Your child and all household members will need to self-isolate for 14 days from when the symptoms started. Please arrange for your child to have a test to see if they have COVID-19. You can arrange to get a test online at GOV.UK or by calling 119.
What happens if a member of my child’s household displays symptoms?
The child should complete 14 days of isolation unless the symptomatic household member has a negative test at which point your child, if well, can return to school.
If the member of the household tests positive then the child must stay at home for 14 days. If during this period your child develops symptoms, then they will also need to be tested.
If school has been notified of a child having symptoms, should the rest of the bubble be told to self-isolate?
No, the bubble should continue to attend school as normal. The symptomatic case should stay at home and follow the stay at home guidance. Any siblings of the child attending the setting should self-isolate for 14 days.
Should I bring my child into school - a helpful guide
In the event that a class, bubble or group of children are unable to attend school due to self-isolation, or in the event of a local lockdown, we will aim to put in place a remote education offer as soon as possible.
You will access the tasks via the Year Group pages and links to daily lessons will be sent via email.
The government requires schools to offer high quality remote education.
