The "Friends" is a registered charity (1046749) run by Parents, Carers and Grandparents which works within the school's community to facilitate a rich and varied learning environment for pupils at Church Lane Academy which is:
During the school year, the Friends organise various fundraising events of all shapes and sizes which not only raise vital funds, but also support the school in its activities.
Over the last few years, the Friends have purchased water bottles for all the new foundation children, the school's outdoor stage, outdoor classrooms for Year 1, new playground markings, furniture for the Junior library, new books for the reading recovery programme, iPads, footballs and most recently the new play equipment in the Infant playground.
2017-18 Fundraising Aspirations
Over the next 12 months, the Friends will be working hard to raise funds to support a number of projects including:
- The renovation of the Hope Shed which is used in a variety of ways by the pupils at WCLA
- The development of bespoke canopies to provide vital shade to children whilst on the school field
- Implementation of a new levelled reading system
- Purchasing new books for the school library to encourage reading for pleasure.
Other smaller projects will also be considered for funding during 2017-18 via funding requests to the Friends Committee.
