Our Spring term topics are The Great Fire of London and The Great Fire of Nantwich

English – Writing

This half term we will be look at the book ‘Major Glad, Major Dizzy’. We will be using various genres of writing to explore new vocabulary and learn new writing skills such as:

  • Using because and when
  • Using the past and present tense correctly
  • Using the progressive form of the past and present tense.

English – Reading

During our reading lessons we will be looking at the book ‘Owen and the Soldier’. We will look at how to create inferences based on what we have read alongside discussing our favourite words and phrases. We will continue to work on asking and answering questions, understanding what we have read and predicting what may happen next.

Owen and The Soldier

During our Maths lessons this half term we will be recapping our knowledge of Multiplication and Division and beginning to look at 2D and 3D shapes.

The Great Fire of London/The Great Fire of Nantwich

During topic lessons we will be looking at the ‘Great Fire of Nantwich’. We will continue our work in Spring 1 on The Great Fire of London and Samuel Pepys diary and look at the locality, completing map work to understand where Nantwich is placed on the map and working on maps of Nantwich to further understand the events of the fire. Alongside this we will be improving our understanding of the Great Fire of Nantwich and improving our historical knowledge of events in the local area. During our D&T lessons we will be learning food technology skills and we will be baking bread, which links to our knowledge of the Great Fire of London and how the fire began.

2B have PE on Monday and Friday.

2S have PE on Monday and Wednesday.

On these days we ask that children come to school in their PE clothes rather than their school uniform.

Weather dependant they can wear their shorts and school coloured PE T- shirt and House PE sweatshirt. If the weather is cold, then track suit bottoms/leggings would be more suitable. Trainers are preferable to pumps as it is possible the children may be outdoors for some lessons.

Long Term Plan

Remote Learning

In the instance that your child is required to remain off school as a result of self-isolating, here is an overview of the learning taking place in class each day.

There are links to useful resources and games that can be clicked to enable children to access their learning at home.
