Please note that we will be using reading journals as our main form of communication
Our Summer term topics are Coastlines and the Seaside.
English – Writing
This half term we will be look at the book ‘Grandad's Secret Giant’. We will be using various genres of writing to explore new vocabulary and learn new writing skills such as:
- Using expanded noun phrases to describe and specify
- Using suborination (because, when, if that) and co-ordination (and, but)
- adding suffixes to spell longer words e.g. -ment and -ful
English – Reading
During our reading lessons we will be looking at the book ‘Grimm's Fairytales’. We will continue to work on using what we have read to make predictions as well as looking at our favourite words and phrases from the book. We will build comprehension skills by asking and answering questions about what we have read.
During our Maths lessons this half term we will be looking at weight, volume and temperature. We will look at reading scales accurately and measuring weight and capacity. We will also look at a range of problem solving techqniques.
Coastlines and The Seaside.
During topic lessons we will be looking at 'Coastlines' and 'The Seaside'. We will expand our knowledge of the World using maps to look at continents, Oceans and locating the UK on a map. We will expand our geographical vocabulary and look at geographical similarities and differences between locations.
During our Art lessons we will be looking at using natural resources to create seaside themed sculptures.
2B have PE on Monday and Friday.
2S have PE on Monday and Wednesday.
On these days we ask that children come to school in their PE clothes rather than their school uniform.
Weather dependant they can wear their shorts and school coloured PE T- shirt and House PE sweatshirt. If the weather is cold, then track suit bottoms/leggings would be more suitable. Trainers are preferable to pumps as it is possible the children may be outdoors for some lessons.
Long Term Plan
In the instance that your child is required to remain off school as a result of self-isolating, here is an overview of the learning taking place in class each day.
