Our intention at WCLA is for Design and Technology to be an inspiring and practical subject. By using creativity and imagination, children will design and make products that solve real and relevant problems, within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values. Through tackling projects and problem solving, we stimulate creativity and imagination.
Design and technology is taught throughout the school following the Church Lane Curriculum. Design and Technology may be taught as part of a weekly timetable, or in a block. Children follow a production process that starts with the design of a product, then the production of it, finally ending with an evaluation of the product created. Work produced in these lessons is kept in a DT folder of work.
Because of the design and technology curriculum, pupils will leave Year 6 having learnt how to take risks, be resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable members of society.
