At WCLA French is taught to Key Stage Two for thirty minutes once a week by the class teacher or a teaching assistant. We teach French as this is the language taught by Shavington Academy, the secondary school the majority of our pupils’ transition to.
We plan for French lessons using the Lightbulb Languages scheme of work. French lessons are delivered using activities and challenges that improve pupil’s oracy, literacy and cultural understanding.
To reinforce the learning of French, children will build knowledge of the language and experience a range of language learning strategies.
